Why host with us?

We've dealt with several web hosting companies in the past and we have never found a single one we were happy with. We've also read some really awful stories about other companies which we are very happy we didn't deal with them ourselves.
Company websites are so important. We believe that every business must have a website. We know how frustrating it is to run a business and have to stress about your site, usually because of problems caused by hosts.
So we decided to provide a better alternative. We had to be different.
Problems with typical hosts
Below is a partial list of some of the problems we've experienced or heard about. It is important to note that not all hosts will have all these problems, but they usually have a few. We believe that if we designed our hosting company with these problems in mind, we can ensure we are a unique hosting company.
Account termination
You can actually read about this one in their fine print. This is potentially one of the worst things a host can do (at least intentionally) yet so many do it.
These hosts will set usage maximums. If you use more than the maximum they will close your account. This means your company web site would disappear. They will usually give you a chance to re-activate your account for a fee. However, before you notice, pay the fee, and your account is back online, it may be several days.
We will never terminate your account.
Crowded servers
A lot web hosts will try save maximize their profit by putting as many of their clients on the same physical servers. They will often put more than 1000 clients on one computer.
This leads to overused servers which then slow down often to a point where their client's web site doesn't even show up.

Insecure hosting
We've noticed that most web hosts don't put any thought at all into security. We find this unbelievable since security is quite possibly the most important aspect of any IT project. Here are a few possible outcomes of bad security
- Web site is down
- Web site is taken over and replaced with other content
- a link to the competitor
- embarrassing material
- illegal material
- Customer/Client data is stolen

We really don't understand the lack of attention other hosts give to security, for us, we love finding new and better ways to secure our servers. We find it fun. The only conclusion we can come to here is that other hosts either hire staff that are not very skilled in server administration, or the company overworks them (just like their servers) to the point where they don't have time to think about security planning.

We spend a great deal of time trying to be one step ahead of the bad guys and find new ways to improve our security.
Automated Setup
All hosts boast about how fast your hosting server will be up and running. In order to allow this, they have to automate the server setup so that when a new customer signs up the server automatically configures their server with the defaults. The problem is that not everybody needs those defaults. This is also one cause of the insecurity mentioned above.
You are expected to go into your account and configure it yourself. Most business owners then hire someone (contractor or employee) to configure it for them.
Some hosts also offer some of the same free tools that we offer. However, as with the servers, all they do is give you the option to enable those tools. You are expected to configure those tools yourself. For most of those tools, it takes a fair bit of work to figure out how to implement those tools and integrate them into your site.
